Police officers feel abandoned by justice and politics
Beatings, spitting, swearing: in the exercise of their duties, police
officers must put up with far too much. Meanwhile, many officers fear the
streets. They feel abandoned by justice and politics.
Rolf P. Steinegger, President of the Association of Swiss Police Officers
(VSPB), Section Bern City: "Conflicts between the courts and the police
need to be resolved. Since all criminal prosecution authorities should function
as a unit, it is dangerous to, in principle, drive a wedge between police and
justice".
